The “e-Skills for Jobs High-Level Conference” that will be held tomorrow (October 30) in Rome will focus on the paradox of employment in Europe. Notwithstanding high levels of youth unemployment, ICT companies are struggling to hire people with the necessary profiles.
Several actions have been undertaken this year by Fondazione Mondo Digitale to increase eSkills of young people, through the methodology of education for life that combines knowledge, skills and values. Within the Voucher campaign sponsored by Microsoft and Telecentre Europe, in collaboration with Fondazione Mondo Digitale and Tesi Automazione, young people had the opportunity to improve and certify the necessary skills to facilitate entry into the job market. 1,445 vouchers were requested and used by school students: 930 Microsoft Office Specialist Certifications (MOS), which also counts as university credits and points for public calls, and 515 Microsoft Technology Associate Certifications (MTA) that attests IT skills that are highly sought by the labour market.
Among the stories we wanted to tell, as a way to humanize the statistics of the voucher campaign, there isAgnieszka’s, aged 26. While looking through the offers available at theJob Centre, shenotices an announcement: Fondazione Mondo Digitale offers the opportunity to take the Microsoft Certification Exams for free. Agnieszka jots down the phone numbers and when she does a quick search on the Internet, she discovers that the MOS Certifications are widely accepted, even abroad. She passes her tests and begins to look for a job, not any job, “her” job.
At the end of the campaign FMD reported some success stories for the eSkills for Jobs Competition. Now Agnieszka has been selected and invited to participate in the event "e-Skills for Jobs High-Level Conference".
