Elders On-line

Elders play a fundamental role in the lives of their children and adolescents. They are a reference point for their education and growth and can become a conscientious guide for life on the web, too. Indeed, Italians above the age of 50 greatly enjoy new technology, too: nearly 85% have a smartphone, more than 61% a computer, 33% a printer, 21.2% a tablet and 8.4% a smartwatch (data: Format Research).

Be Internet Awesome, an educational programme addressing on-line safety promoted with GoogleItalian Postal PoliceAltroconsumo and Anteas, provides free training to help elders acquire the skills necessary to conduct an active digital citizenship. The content of the next five sessions have been programmed with the over-60s at CNA Pensionati and the Associazione nazionale controllo di vicinato (ANCDV).
