An Ecological Robot

Here is a short video revealing the RobEar 3.0 Rover from IS Emanuele Morselli in Gela (Caltanisetta), the school directed by Serafina Ciotta.

Professor Pietro Giannone, who coordinates a group of 22 students, updates us on the team.

“The project is based on the development of a wheeled robot rover piloted by on-board motors, equipped with a robotic arm and a webcam, both mounted on motors, too. RobEar 3.0, as the device has been called, is controlled remotely through software also developed by the students. The robot is directed via the webcam, which can be pointed remotely, too, and the robotic arm can be used to pick up objects. An Arduino chipset samples gas and transmits identified values to a control platform.”

Next month, students and professors will be in Rome to participate in the three-day Romecup Event (April 16-18) that will be held at the Rome Università Campus Bio-medico and at the Campidoglio.

The team will host demos in the showcase area dedicated to excellency at school and participate in the Rescue Category competitions. Last, but certainly not least, the professor likes to emphasise that the RobEar 3.0 Rover is built entirely from recycled materials.
