DisAbuse Event in Rome

DisAbuse Event in Rome
  • It was a positive experience both for my student and I. The friendly atmosphere that developed from the outset contribute to increasing attention and personal reflection.
  • I was both happy and choked up to see the simplicity and authenticity of these children with a range of disabilities join in and overcome all embarrassment and difficulties to express their opinions and experiences.
  • It was both pleasant and useful to share ideas with other colleagues working in different conditions. I recommend participating in this to everyone who has to deal with “fragile” people.

These three descriptions narrate the experience of the educational programme on “How to React and Contrast Bullying,” a part of European Project DisAbuse - Disablist Bullying - Experience into Change, providing the right support services, which involved 27 young adults with special educational needs and 12 teachers, coaches and psychologists.

Fondazione Mondo Digitale coaches led the reflection using the materials developed by the project partners and the Lego® Serious Play® and MTa Learning. The methodology, which was successfully applied during the course, will also be used at the workshop that will be held as part of the International Conference on September 27, 2019 at the Rome, Phyrtual Innovation Gym (Via del Quadraro 102).

The objective of the International Conference and DisAbuse Workshops is to review actions contrasting bullying (laws, projects, research, etc.) implemented in various countries with a special focus on individuals with special needs. During the afternoon, two workshops will be held by the Anti-bullying Centre at the University of Dublin (in English) and the Fondazione Mondo Digitale (in Italian).

Registration  is required to participate in the international conference. The final programme will soon be on-line.

The project is implemented as part of the Erasmus+ Programme by the Anti-bullying Centre at the University of Dublin (Ireland), Fondazione Mondo Digitale (Italy), Institute of Art & Design Technology (Ireland), University of Lisbon (Portugal) and University of Murcia (Spain).
