With Roma Tre to bring digital skills to everyone
Since 2020, she has been an active member of the student association of the Università degli Studi Roma Tre, Studenti alla Terza. ‘We are democratic, anti-fascist and respectful of institutions, working both within and outside academic bodies. We organise cultural reflection and leisure activities, but above all we carry out projects, ask questions, listen to students' everyday problems and mobilise to support them, leaving no one behind,’ says Claudia Marinetti, a master's student in Architecture.
The organisation brings various initiatives to the Academic Senate, from requests for more university exam sessions to increased protection for the most vulnerable groups, such as working students, new mothers and carers. ‘We are working to establish the status of “out-of-town student” for a range of additional services, such as tutoring for finding accommodation,’ explains Claudia.
‘We responded immediately and enthusiastically to the Villaggio Digitale project of the Fondazione Mondo Digitale, a proposal that came through the Primavera degli Studenti organisation, of which we are a member. We saw a real opportunity to offer structured and certified courses to young students, thus completing our educational offering.’
‘These include courses on basic digital skills and programmes used in some faculties, such as Matlab, Adobe and Photoshop, which we consider essential for students' knowledge base and their future. Villaggio Digitale impressed us because it allows us to offer students specialisation in content creation, storytelling and privacy.’
The project is part of an agreement between the Fondazione Mondo Digitale and Roma Tre University, which supports innovation and digital training courses to guide students towards new skills and opportunities [read the news item The university that looks to the future].
