Senate Vice-President Licia Ronzulli opens the RomeCup 2026 demonstration area
With the opening of the demonstration area, RomeCup 2026 (28–30 April) has entered the heart of the dialogue between research, schools, universities, businesses and institutions. Featuring prototypes, artificial intelligence solutions, educational robotics and health technologies, the exhibition space showcases innovation driven by young people: not merely as technological acceleration, but as the building of skills, responsibility and a shared vision.
The area was inaugurated by Senate Vice-President Licia Ronzulli, who highlighted the theme of digital sovereignty as a pressing priority for the country. A message fully in tune with the 19th edition of RomeCup, promoted by the Fondazione Mondo Digitale ETS, which this year focuses on augmented intelligence and the dialogue between human and artificial intelligence to build a new relationship between technology and society.

RomeCup: Ronzulli, digital sovereignty is a pressing priority
(AGI) - Rome, 6 May - “Digital sovereignty is a pressing priority. This is why it is important to invest in our skills and retain brilliant minds in Italy. It is a shared responsibility between institutions, universities, schools, businesses and the younger generations”: this was stated by the Vice-President of the Senate, Licia Ronzulli, as she inaugurated the demonstration area at RomeCup 2026, the largest innovation event dedicated to young people currently taking place in Rome.
Promoted since 2007 by the Fondazione Mondo Digitale ETS, the event showcases the talent of the younger generation, guiding them towards STEM studies and careers and supporting them in developing the specialist and transferable skills most in demand by the labour market – skills that are also essential for addressing the ethical and social challenges of technological transformation.
This year’s edition marks a thematic evolution that opens up new challenges for innovation and its social impact, positioning itself as a space for convergence where human and artificial intelligence engage in dialogue to build a new relationship between technology and society.
It is with this in mind that the third edition of Health Bot, the educational contest to devise artificial intelligence solutions applied to healthcare, is taking place within the festival. The initiative, which forms part of ‘The Future of Care’, a project by Johnson & Johnson and Microsoft promoted by the Fondazione Mondo Digitale, is a practical workshop that transforms young people’s ideas into concrete solutions. It focuses on the integration of AI and precision technologies to make healthcare more predictive, accessible and ethical, contributing to a vision of responsible innovation for health.
