CodyTrip to Florence

CodyTrip to Florence

How are textbooks developed? Who designs, writes, illustrates and produces them and how do they arrive at schools? On March 21-22, CodyTrip will be in Florence at Italian publisher “Giunti Editore” to see how textbooks are produced, from editorial decisions to their arrival in classrooms.

It will be an intense on-line educational experience organised as a two-day school fieldtrip to keep attention high and drive student involvement. As with all other CodyTrip editions, the main focus, which in this edition is educational publishing, will be developed in an original and interdisciplinary fashion, providing opportunities for learning and discovery in every place and person.

During the trip, the Codytrippers will explore Florence with Art Historian Gloria Fossi, visiting the Cathedral terraces, the Torre di Arnolfo, and Palazzo Vecchio with Florinda Nesticò from MUS.E. Moreover, they will have the opportunity to visit the Giunti Historical Archive in Villa La Loggia, play with the national edition of the Taccuini di Leonardo da Vinci, see the original edition of Pinocchio and sketches by Walt Disney, and learn about coding to drive logistics, as well as participate in labs, contribute to drawing the covers of new textbooks and producing collective digital resources for the textbooks.

“We have developed a very simple digital platform called ActiveViewer,” explains Project Manager Alessandro Bogliolo, “that allow us to provide live interactive experiences to an unlimited number of participants. Children from around Italy can actively participate with classmates, teachers and families, making shared decisions, playing, answering questions and earning points.”

In virtue of the impact that it has proven to have to contrast educational poverty and promote civic education and intergenerational dialogue, CodyTrip has the patronage of Save the Children, Fondazione Mondo Digitale, Grey Panthers and Telefono Azzurro.

There already are over 15,000 registered participants for CodyTrip to Florence – Behind the Scenes with Textbook Publishers, an initiative organised by di DIGIT srl. Free registration remains open until the day of the field trip.
