Coding Girls in Turin

For school years 2019-20, 2020-21 and 2021-22, thanks to a collaboration with the Compagnia di San Paolo, 600 young women in 10 second-degree secondary schools in Turin will participate in an intensive programme on STEAM subjects promoted by the Fondazione Mondo Digitale.

On January 24, from 10:15 am to 1 pm, the project will be introduced through an initial module focusing on gender equality and professional opportunities in STEAM areas. The meeting also aims to introduce the students to new career opportunities.

Coding Girls Objectives:

  • Raise the awareness of young women on the opportunities that emerge from STEAM studies and professions (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts & Math), especially through familiarity and creativity with digital technology;
  • Promote university orientation and the access of young women to technical and scientific faculties;
  • Educate to gender equality.

The schedule of activities for the first week involves six out of ten participating schools. The courses, which will be held by Valeria Cristino and Lara Forgione, also include two afternoon “train the trainers” sessions.
