June 23 is the deadline for applying to the national teacher roster for Italian middle and high schools. According to the Title Evaluation Criteria, digital and IT certifications are now officially recognized. In particular, the Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) Certification is worth two points.
According to a recent directive from the Ministry of Education, University and Research, aspiring supply teachers can also apply as long as they will have obtained their teaching certificate by July 31, 2014.
Aspiring supply teachers – either certified or to be certified – can take the Microsoft Office Specialist Certification exam for free at the Phyrtual Innovation Gym, just like students and teachers.
The Microsoft Office Specialist Programme provides 3 certification levels:
• Specialist: attests knowledge of Microsoft Office applications; certificates are available for each individual programme: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Outlook.
• Expert: attests expert-level knowledge; individual certificates are available for Word and Excel.
• Master: is the highest level. It requires 4 exams: 2 expert level exams for Word and Excel, one on PowerPoint and one on either Access or Outlook.
