The Cardano Robotics Team

The Cardano Robotics Team

The school is present at RoboCup 2011in Istanbul, but after four days of intense competition the Monterotondo team did not reach the final rounds. Naturally, this hardly spoils the fantastic experience.

The fourth team from Rome, competing in the Soccer B Category is the Cardano Robotics Team, lead by IIS Piazza della ResistenzaProfessor Livio Consorte.
There are five students, all in their last year. It’s the same team that competed at the RomeCup 2011. They have modified and strengthened their robots (Exenon and Ares) to make them even more efficient on the field. They competed strenuously, but did not make the finals.

Today, they will be back in Italy after having viewed the end of the competition.
They won no medals, but what a fantastic prize for their diploma!

The professors at the Monterotondo institute have invested in educational robotics for many years now.
In January 2006, they participated in Sconfinatamente, the first edition of the Festival of Sciences at the Auditorium in Rome. There, together with students from the Pacinotti and Von Neumann Schools in Rome and experts from the former Consorzio Gioventù Digitale, they set up a stand with hardware and software simulations of didactic robotics.

For the first time, Roman schools were protagonists together with scientists from around the world. While researchers discussed exploration and manipulation of the mind, the students illustrated their school work, applying robotics to the study of Science.
