Bari Calls Rome

Today - Wednesday, November 11 – from 3:30 to 5:30 pm, the students in years 4 and 5 at the “IIS Orazio Tedone di Ruvo” School in Puglia (Bari) will connect in videoconference with the Fondazione Mondo Digitale to define workgroups, calendar and acess procedures to the Microsoft IT Accademy and Programme Meet No Neet.

The team of 22 students is coordinated by Cataldo Nichilo, computer science teacher.

A note circulated yesterday by Headmaster Domenica Loiudice shared this appointment with the entire school community.

The programme of the first training session includes exercises on e-skills e soft skills, the exploration of the Phyrtual.org environment and of the IT Academy platform, and tests with useful didactic tools (i.e., OneNote, OneDrive). This will be followed by a discussion to understand how to best implement Programme Meet No Neet locally.

"The school operates in an area that is prevalently agricultural, but that has begun discovering new occupations related to enterprise and tourism, as well as social services” explains the school curriculum.  "In this context, there are no particular requests. This and neighbouring areas are characterized by a good level of social and economic development and provides a good level of civic safety. The school provides a solid level of cultural education, teaching the children to work and be civil amongst themselves and with others and how to make professional and personal choices in a constantly and frenetically evolving society.”

The virtual classroom will be hosted by Ana Lain [@Ana_Fmd] and Valentina Gelsomini [Valentina_fmd].

The third edition of Project Meet no Neet has involved over 30 schools from 11 Italian regions. The project, which is promoted as part of the Microsoft YouthSpark Programme, prevents and contrasts the Neet Phenomenon starting from school. It includes technological, social and entrepreneurial training to allow young men and women to access the working world more easily and acquire the competences necessary to live in the 21st century.
