Today, Friday, October 4, at 3 pm, Rivodutri will inaugurate “Le Radici Auree” installation by artist Mariagrazia Pontorno, developed in collaboration with the Fondazione Mondo Digitale as part of the Regione Lazio “Art on Walks” Call.
The call selected seven contemporary art projects to be developed and installed along pilgrim’s routes. Mariagrazia Pontorno’s artwork will be installed along the walk that leads to the Beech Tree of Rivodutri, in the Province of Rieti, which has recently been added to the official list of monumental, historical trees.
The three bronze sculptures that compose the permanent art installation are viewed as symbolic extensions of the tree’s roots that extend out along the route and also serve as seats for pilgrims. The inauguration of the work will also include a performance on the issue of “roots” by the students of the Rivodutri Primary School [see news: The Artist at School].
We would like to thank the Town of Rivodutri for its collaboration. During the event, there will be a free shuttle bus service from Piazza Municipio in Rivodutri provided by the V Comunità Montana-Montepiano Reatino.
