Gemini updates arrive to Italy with version 1.5 Flash.
Google has extended global access to Gemini in over 40 languages to adolescents. Students that meet the age requirements to manage their own Google Account (14 in Italy) can now access Gemini to better understand school subjects, prepare for university, and obtain help on creative projects.
In order to allow safe surfing on Gemini, Google has implemented further policies and safeguards: specific onboarding for adolescents and an introductory guide to AI to help them use it responsibly.
“We want to create opportunities for adolescents to benefit from generative AI and prepare them for a future in which AI will play an even more central role, whilst prioritising security and satisfying their need to grow,” writes Amar Subramanya, Vice President of Engineering, Gemini Experiences [see post (in Italian): Gemini si aggiorna anche in Italia!]. Moreover, he added: “We work with security and child development experts, including those at the Fondazione Mondo Digitale in Italy with whom we have collaborating locally to support the digital skills of families and schools, as well as MediaSmarts in Canada, Miudos Seguros na Net in Portugal, and Fad Juventud in Spain.”
Gemini has also been extensively tested by two of our coaches – Elisa Chierchiello and Monica Cauduro – as well as Valentina Gelsomini, FMD Technical Infrastructure and Educational Resources Manager.
