“Knowledge Volunteer 3.0" Award - Regulations

Objectives
As we move from the the European Year for Volunteering Activities promoting Active Citizenship (2011) to the European Year for Active Ageing and Solidarity Amongst Generations (2012), the Fondazione Mondo Digitale is promoting the “Knowledge Volunteers 3.0” Competition in collaboration with the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, Department of Youth, with the patronage of the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy and the support of Intel Italy.
The objective of the award is to promote the educational role of schools for the development of active citizenship amongst the new generations and create a network of knowledge volunteers to share knowledge, promote and speed up the development of a democratic knowledge society.
Moreover, the competition aims to:
  • fully exploit the valuable contribution provided by young tutors and school students to promote digital literacy amongst the elderly, support intergenerational exchange and fight social exclusion and the social divide;
  • promote active agein and peer digital volunteering amongst the elderly.

The second edition of this competition amplifies and reformulates - at a national and international level - the first local network of young volunteers developed in Rome that was subsequently extended to other regions. The competition is open to all individuals active in digital volunteering at school or elderly meeting centres.
