Solidarity football match for World Refugee Day
The “I Am There” solidarity football match is organised for World Refugee Day, an annual appointment established by the General Assembly of the United Nations.
The initiative addresses young refugees in reception facilities, schools, football clubs and educational communities.
The game will be held in Arghillà, a neighbourhood in Reggio Calabria with a high rate of educational poverty and extreme social fragility. The Fondazione Mondo Digitale organises the event in collaboration with the Provincial Committee of the Italian Sports Centre. The match will be held on a football pitch created in a former garbage dump area that has been requalified and recovered thanks to the work of CSI Reggio Calabria operatives and volunteers. The choice aims to strengthen our message of shared solidarity, participation, and inclusion.
The “I Am There” football match will be held on June 22 giugno (18.00) at the “Campetto Polivalente Modenelle” in Arghillà, at the presence of institutional representatives. The teams will be welcomed by Paolo Cicciù, CSI Provincial President, and Giulia Melissari, local coordinator for the Fondazione Mondo Digitale.
