The Art of Collaboration

From January to March 2016, twelve artists will work with students in 12 schools in Naples, Rome and Milan to develop digital works that will be exhibited at the prestigious Media Art Festival.

Following on the heels of the successful pilot edition, two new partners have joined the initiative developed by the Fondazione Mondo Digitale: BNL Gruppo BNP Paribas and the Rome Fondazione MAXXI.

The objective is to drive youth towards a new conception of art and technology, developing strategic skills and new professional profiles.

The Media Art Festival school tour will be inaugurated by Giacomo Lion, a young emerging artist from Bologna, who met with students from the Rome IC Parco della Vittoria in December [see news Schools as Art Studios].

Moreover, two other schools begin their artwork today. Paolo Gatti and Francesco Bianco will work with students at IIS Sandro Pertini in Genzano (Province of Rome) to conceive and develop a live performance.

In Naples, Piero Chiarello returns to IIS Mazzini. “I am very pleased to embark on this adventure that will allow me to exchange ideas with young students,” the artist explained. “I feel just like them. And believe we should collaborate more and stick closer together.” This is the first time that an artist will work with students to develop an original audio installation.

The appointment with the Media Art Festival original event-project format, which will be held on April 13-17, 2016 at the Museo nazionale per le arti del XXI secolo, will feature lectures, installations and conferences with innterational experts, as well as didactic and educational tracks for students of all ages. The Media Art Festival is an absolute novelty for the Italian artistic panorama, a true, networked laboratory to entice the younger generation to the active, creative and innovative use of technology.
