Young and Creative Ideas

Yesterday morning, the students attending Class IA of the Istituto Comprensivo Volumnia met again with artist Giacomo Lion to prepare for the Media Art Festival. The project-event redesigns the classic “festival” format by creating a true extended lab in schools.

The first meeting allowed everyone to get to know each other. Yesterday, the students were ready with paint and brushes and started working on their ideas … some of which will be transformed into works of art.

The artists encouraged their creativity by speaking about three dimensions, about innovation, but also about simplicity. He pushed them to “immerse [themselves] completely in a pool full of digital objects. During the conception phase everything is possible.” Impatient to create, the students dived right in and pulled out forms, devices and bizarre realities.

White sheets of paper quickly became upside down worlds, resounding and illuminated squares and closets that turn into suitcases. In one corner, half-human half-robots came to life, while in another pianos and guitars became a single musical instrument. And the Trevi Fountain spurted chocolate and music, rather than water!

The students at IC Volumnia are definitely not short of ideas … which means they are half way there!
