In Reggio Calabria, a workshop to reduce the gender gap and promote work-life balance

On 29 May at 6.30 p.m., at Possidonea Lab. Idee in fermento, the workshop Gender Gap and Work-Life Balance Policies will be held, promoted by the Fondazione Mondo Digitale as part of the PRODIGY – Promoting Digital and Green Skills for Youth project, coordinated by Giulia Melissari.

The initiative marks a first important step towards the creation of a territorial alliance with the Municipality of Reggio Calabria, the Chamber of Commerce, profit and non-profit enterprises, cooperatives and local associations. The shared objective is to enhance the value of young people through training and sustainable and inclusive job placement programmes.

The workshop has been made possible thanks to the hospitality and collaboration of the Consorzio Macramè and the Impronte a Sud project, which manages the property confiscated from the mafia where the workshop is located.

An agenda designed to build concrete alliances. The programme includes:

  • 6.30 p.m. – Welcome and introduction
  • Presentation of the PRODIGY project as a European platform for social innovation and the Possidonea Lab as a space for community regeneration. This will be followed by institutional greetings.
  • 6.50 p.m. – Round table “Businesses that transform”
  • Discussion on social impact business models, work-life balance policies and youth inclusion strategies. Representatives from institutions, companies, cooperatives and start-ups will participate.
  • 7.40 p.m. – Focus talk “Spaces that generate the future”
  • Ideas and proposals for the reuse of urban spaces with a focus on social innovation and gender equality.
  • 8 p.m. – Networking Lab & informal aperitif
  • An opportunity for open discussion between young people, organisations and businesses to shape new collaborations and opportunities.

An invitation to local businesses

Companies and cooperatives interested in offering internships, work experience or job placements to young people involved in the project can express their interest by filling in the online form.

The meeting represents a strategic opportunity to initiate a local dialogue on the active role of businesses in reducing gender inequalities and building a fair, sustainable and youth-friendly labour market.
