The Istituto comprensivo Don Lorenzo Milani (plesso Ungaretti) in Bari held an introductory course on modelling and 3D printers for the students. The students were divided into groups and created a small symbolic object with Tinkercad to represent European monuments, symbols of Puglia, etc. Moreover, a 3-hour course was organised for students with psychic and physical disabilities along with their support teachers and their peers acting as tutors and facilitators.

Coach Irene Caretti, a designer and maker, explains the peculiarity of this class, which unlike the others, knew what it wanted to do. Some of the students printed out their names, some printed out their mother’s name as a surprise and some even managed to design and print out a ring.

However, the true surprise was a student affected by mutism. The brilliant and intuitive student, with the help of his support teacher, fell in love with digital manufacturing and will present his project for his final exams.
