Last week, the city hall of Marina di Gioiosa Jonica, a town in the Metropolitan City of Reggio Calabria, held two Be Internet Awesome meetings dedicated to over-60s and the Internet.
The focus of the first meeting was on life-improving apps, while the second was dedicated to frauds and fake news. Be Internet Awesome, the educational programme on on-line security promoted by Google, the Italian Postal Police, Altroconsumo and Anteas, provides free educational activities to help elders acquire digital citizenship skills.
The meetings were opened by Mayor Geppo Femia, the Councillor for Digital and Technological innovation, Giuseppe Romeo, and the Councillor for Social Policy, Valentina Femia.
The session was conducted by Roberta Coluccio.
Marina di Gioiosa Jonica has just over 6200 residents and the population of over-60s, mostly women, account for almost 30% of the population.
