On Wednesday May 29 at 11.00 am, the Istituto di Istruzione Superiore “Orioli” in Viterbo hosted the final event of “Grandparents on the Internet in Tuscia,” a digital literacy project for elders promoted by the Fondazione Mondo Digitale and the Province of Viterbo and run by students and coordinating professors.
The project involved 6 schools in Viterbo, Civita Castellana and Vetralla reaching 560 citizens aged 60 or older and more than 100 students who participated in the teaching project and the Digital Culture Festival.
On the first day of the course, Grandma Lidia (63) held her mouse with two hands, now she uses Word and sends e-mails to her friends. Her young tutor Tatjana (17) proudly chats with the elders whom she instructed. This is why Alessandro Gigliotti, the coordinating teacher at ITSST Da Vinci in Viterbo is so happy. He taught students to stand on the other side of the classroom.
The event to celebrate the successful initiative will be held on May 29 at the Istituto Orioli di Viterbo. Student tutors and elder students will receive their certificates of participation from Paolo Bianchini, Youth Policy Councillor for the Province of Viterbo.

• Luigi Valente, school administrator, IIS Orioli di Viterbo
• Paolo Bianchini, Youth Policy Councillor, Province of Viterbo
