Schools are preparing intensely for the new edition of RomeCup – Excellence in Robotics in Rome, which will be held on April 16-18, 2018, in collaboration with the Università Campus Bio-Medico.
The competing teams include 12 determined students from the Liceo Scientifico Bruno Touschek in Grottaferrata (Roma). Last week, we spoke to Professor Giuseppe Basile, the Coordinator of Team Touschek Robotics, after the Robotics Lab held at the school every Wednesday afternoon (2:30-4:30 pm).
Professor Basile described the school’s experience last year and the spirit with which the students are preparing for the new edition. The mathematics professor revealed the enthusiasm of the team of students, preparing with great commitment in the theoretical and practical preparation for the competition.
The team of students, coordinated by Professor Basile, will compete in the Soccer Category. Thanks to a crowdfunding operation, the team was able to purchase material to equip the robot with a video camera. And all the remaining funds will be invested in the challenge, too.
"We want to try again," explains the professor, referring to the three-day event organised and promoted by the Fondazione Mondo Digitale, in collaboration with the Università Campus Biomedico di Roma. As part of the competitions, which are valid for the World Robotics Selections, a delegation will visit the Robotics Lab at the Phyrtual Innovation Gym to improve their knowledge of sensors.
And the students at Touschek are working on either ideas, too. The same group of self-taught robot makers are developing a prototype for eco-sustainability ... but we can’t tell you everything now! We will show you in the showcase area of the next edition of RomeCup.
