Today at the Rome Campidoglio

The Global Junior Challenge and Smart & Heart Cities events end today against the beautiful backdrop of the Rome Campidoglio.

From 9 to 12 am, the Sala della Protomoteca will host the international project organized by Project ComeON! - Community Projects for Social Innovation through Intergenerational Volunteering Experiences as part of the Smart & Hearth Cities Initiative.

From 10 to 12 am, the Sala Giulio Cesare will host the awards ceremony for the seventh edition of the Global Junior Challenge and the International Hackathon for Social Innovation.

The european Project ComeON! Is based on the development of micro social innovation projects to promote the active citizenship of young and old alike. The project, which has developed and tested a new methodology based on the FMD Life Education Model, allowed intergenerational groups to attend a course on how to address local social innovation challenges.

The training course, which was held in Holland, Hungary, Italy, Romania and Spain, involved 105 students from upper school, 80 senior volunteers and 18 teachers. Together, they managed to launch 9 micro-projects based on social innovation, solidarity and citizenship. Moreover, the schools in which the courses were held were able to experiment a new way of involving students in the acquisition of new skills and competences and promoting local community dynamics.

The project results and stories will be shared during the international workshop.
