The Fondazione Mondo Digitale and Telecom Italia announce the first edition of the TELEMOUSE 3.0 – KNOWLEDGE VOLUNTEERS Award promoted with the patronage of the Ministry of Youth.The award aimsto promote the contributions of young students from the schools of Rome who work as digital literacy tutors for the elderly and fight exclusion and the social divide.
The award will be presented to two experiences of excellence in digital volunteering: two students who have demonstrated exceptional didactic and social abilities during the course of the Telemouse lessons and for their efforts as digital animators at the Telecom Internet Corners installed in the elderly centres of Rome.
The two scholarships are:
 
  • Excellent tutor for the TeleMouse Course 500,00 euro
  • Excellent volunteer at Elderly Centres 1.500,00 euro
 
The Award aims to promote the educational role of school in developing active citizenship amongst the new generations and to create a network of young “knowledge volunteers” who will share experiences and competences and accelerate the development of an inclusive knowledge society.
 
The competition is open to all students in the schools of Rome who have participated or are currently participating in the Telemouse digital literacy for elders project (school years 2009-10 and 2010-11) promoted by the Fondazione Mondo Digitale and Telecom Italia.
Schools (administrators and coordinating teachers) and elderly centres (President and course participants) may nominate one or more tutors by using the attached nomination form.
Nominees may be supported with documents, videos, photographs, interviews, reviews, etc.

A joint commission (Ministry of Youth, Fondazione Mondo Digitale and Telecom Italia) will examine all nomination forms submitted by schools and elderly centres. The two most significant experiences will be rewarded as emblematic cases and future testimonials of the “Invest in knowledge, become a volunteer 3.0” campaign to create a network of youth specialised in digital literacy for the social inclusion of all categories at risk.
The two selected experiences – tutor and volunteer – will receive a small economic prize to invest in knowledge, respectively 500 (five hundred) and 1500 (one thousand and five hundred) euro.
The winners will be announced and the awards delivered on May 31, 2011.
