First local event to reflect on numbers and social generativity
Yesterday, March 6, 2025, the first hybrid local event of the Voglia di Futuro project took place at the Piaget-Diaz Institute in Rome. The initiative is promoted by the Foundation for Birth Rates, in collaboration with the Fondazione Mondo Digitale, Istat, and the Società di ginecologia e ostetricia (Sigo), to stimulate young people to reflect on the future and on the value of birth rate as an expression of social generativity.
The meeting, entitled “Beyond the numbers, the value of generating the future in different ways”, saw the contribution of two authoritative experts:
- Gian Carlo Blangiardo, demographer, professor emeritus, former president of Istat
- Gianluigi De Palo, president of the Foundation for Birth Rates.
The debate focused on the analysis of demographic trends and the social and economic implications of the falling birth rate, with a reflection on possible development models to face the future in a sustainable way. An educational journey through data, awareness and creativity.
The Voglia di Futuro project is aimed at students aged 15 and over and is an innovative educational program that combines scientific insights and digital communication tools. Thanks to the collaboration with experts in demography, statistics and communication, the students also have the opportunity to develop social media campaigns to address the issue of birth rates using the language of their generation.
Towards the General Assembly on Birth Rates 2025
Among the planned activities is the “New Narratives” contest, which brings the best multimedia projects (videos, reels, social posts) to the final presentation during the General Assembly on Birth Rates, scheduled for November 27 and 28, 2025 at the Auditorium della Conciliazione in Rome. The ten finalist teams will have the opportunity to present their projects to the Holy Father and the highest institutional authorities in our country.
