For the second year, the students from various classes at the ISIS Gobetti-Volta School in Bagno a Ripoli have acted as tutors to help elders learn about computers, the web and the many opportunities provided by new technology.
Bagno a Ripoli, in the Province of Florence, has over 25,000 residents and is the municipality with the highest rate of elderly people after that of Fiesole. In fact, 36% of the population is 60 or older – and most of them are women.
Interest is on the rise at ISIS Gobetti-Volta for Grandparents on the Internet and the intergenerational learning model from all the courses of study: computers, economics and languages.
Headmaster Clara Pistolesi points out how the project also improves relationships with the teachers: the students “understand how they should act, when they return to their role as students.”
