Synergy with Universities

It’s like a new “academic year” for the 15,000 young women who are about to participate in the seventh edition of Coding Girls. Promoted by the Fondazione Mondo Digitale and the United States Diplomatic Mission to Italy in collaboration with Microsoft, the educational programme is now also supported by ENI, Compagnia di San Paolo and the Embassy of the Netherlands. And this year, participants will be able to rely on the support of a network composed by 32 academic partners, present in all regions. The network was extremely complex to put together, but also very exciting. For the first time, universities will be able to interpret the spirit of the United Nations that considers gender equality as a strategic priority to achieve all the objectives of the Agenda 2030. There can be no equality without sustainability and no sustainability without equality. Transforming the third mission of universities into an investment in resources for gender equality as a driver of economic development is not only a fundamental objective for fairness, but an extraordinary result in itself.

Corcom.it, an on-line daily covering the digital economy and innovation, and a reference point for the Italian digital community, has published an article by Cecilia Stajano [@CStajano], School Innovation Coordinator and Community Manager at the Fondazione Mondo Digitale. In the article, Cecilia describes the novelties introduced to the seventh edition of Coding Girls as a winning strategy to accelerate towards the achievement of gender equality, especially in the working world [see news: A Gentle Revolution].
