Manuela Benedetti (27) is studying towards a Masters degree in Multimedia Computing and Interaction at the Rome Sapienza University. She fell in love with programming as a child, thanks to her father and brothers, and as she grew up she learned to love its creative side, too.
Now, she is convinced that creativity and originality can also spawn innovative solutions to complicated issues. As a Coding Girl, she has been transmitting her love for coding to younger girls and introducing them to computer science.
The summer school kicks off with a tutor training session for 18 young women. On Saturday, July 8, the IIS Gandini Verri from Lodi, managed by Giusy Moroni, will hold a full day on coding in Milan with sessions dedicated to Scratch, Ozobot and Microsoft technology.
And tomorrow, a new challenge begins for Manuela. She will inaugurate the Coding Girls Summer School, the third edition of this initiative promoted by the Fondazione Mondo Digitale and the American Embassy in Italy, in collaboration with Microsoft.
During the course of the day, a Skype videoconference will be held with American Coach Emily Thomforde, Code Educator and Steam Specialist.
The Summer School will be in Naples (July 12) and in Rome (July 19).
In the interview with Francesca Meini, Coach Manuela reveals her “coding” story.
