Stay at Home and Learn

Yesterday, we announed the new YouTube playlist dedicated to Project "OpenSPACE – Active Participation Spaces for the Educational Community" (read the article). Today, we share the last post published on the Fondazione Mondo Digitale blog dedicated to the project contrasting educational poverty, school dispersion and dropouts. On Monday, we will announce further new initiatives.

“Stay at home and learn just the same” is the motto that many have adopted, the reality they have chosen to live. And amongst those who believe in this are the teachers who are participating in Project OpenSPACE, which has become a permanent on-line appointment for networking on-line. And it’s not just an educational session, virtual meetings provide a precious opportunity for sharing experiences and debates.

The last two lessons addressed coding and artificial intelligence, but the real issues and concepts at hand were inclusiveness and accessibility. Computational thought and the potential of AI to support didactic activities.

The post written by Giovanna Cipolla indicates the importance of identifying and teaching issues, subjects and methodologies that will amplify the role of schools, always a locus of learning, to present diversities as strengths.

“We have especially addressed the inclusive use of technology within didactic environments, promoting the differences amongst students and removing barriers to the access of knowledge. Artificial intelligence, for example, provides support to didactic activities for linguistic, visual and auditory differences, providing teachers and students with translators and vocal assistants.”
