A Special Day

This year, International Women’s Day coincides with a difficult period for the female population, which is particularly tried by the health emergency. There are however many initiatives that provide support to women at various levels, from health to work.

Here, we mention a number of very different opportunities promoted by our network of partners, schools, associations and large companies.

The Gioeni Trabia Nautical Institute in Palermo, a node of the Social Hosting Hub, has promoted an educational meeting to raise the awareness of young men and women on the issue of on-line hate. Coach Federica Boniolo will hold a live stream with nine classes from 10:30 to 11:30.

Janssen Italia will hold an event to raise awareness on gender depression. The event, which will be streamed live on Facebook and YouTube, will feature Emi Bondi, Director of the Mental Health and Addictions Department at ASST Papa Giovanni XXIII in Bergamo, and Alessandra Sinibaldi, Market Access & Regulatory Affairs Director from Janssen Italia, as a DE&I Champion DE&I at Johnson & Johnson Italia. Moreover, the Trio Medusa will connect from Radio Deejay that promotes the appointment from 10:30 to 11:30.

Today, but also throughout the week, GEM lessons for teachers, parents and classes will be held as part of Coding Girls. The objective is to help people recognise the effects of gender stereotypes and increase their ability to face discrimination, bullying and gender violence, promoting inclusive behaviour that values differences.

The Rome Information Technology Directors’ Club (CDTI) has organised an Assembly of Women in ICT. The appointment is on Zoom (5:00-7:30) with Mirta Michilli, Director General of the Fondazione Mondo Digitale, together with Coding Girls Valentina, Irene e Alessia, who will represent the 15,000 protagonists of the educational programme promoted by the “hybrid” collaborative alliance amongst the United States Diplomatic Mission to ItalyEmbassy of the Netherlands, Compagnia di San PaoloMicrosoftENI and a network of 32 academic partners [see news: Women’s Assembly].

What are the benefits of the Coding Girls Programme for young women? Annarita Petrillo, Professor of Mathematics and Physics at the Liceo G. Peano in Monterotondo explains the benefits in an interview with Cecilia Stajano [@CStajano], School Innovation Coordinator and Community Manager.
