Yesterday, the Rome Campus Bio-Medico University hosted the first coding marathon on ethical issues in robotics, based on the “Robot I’d Like” Survey. The Tech Care Hackathon, promoted by the Fondazione Mondo Digitale, the Rome Campus Bio-Medico University and the National Bio-engineering Group, involved 100 high school and university students in 27 teams, as well as over-60s from the Benedetto Rossi Elderly Centre in Trigoria and 10 mentors (coaches from the Fondazione Mondo Digitale, dell’Università Campus Bio-Medico and the Fondazione Don Carlo Gnocchi) [see news: The Caregiver Robot and Tech Care Hackathon].
Hackathon Results
1st Place
The hackathon was won by Team VEES composed of five young women, aged 16-17, from the Liceo Russell in Rome: Stella Canofari, Sofia Crispino, Valeria Nardis, Eleonora Urso, Elena Valente. The team develop an app that reminds elders to take their medications and simplifies the patient-doctor relationship (Health Emergency Challenge). The team drew inspiration for their idea from the on-line school register and worked with the elders present at the hackathon.
2nd Place
The "Hackateam" Team was composed of one student at the Rome Campus Bio-Medico University (Simone Guarino, 27) and three students from the Ceccano “Liceo Scientifico e Linguistico”: Leonardo Pulciani, Cristian Colasanti and Francesco Maura. The team designed OwnMed, an app for diabetics (Health Emergency Challenge).
3rd Place
Team Calabria was composed of four students aged 18-20: Emiliano D'Intorno, Alessio Rotondo, Marco Silvestrini and Alessandro Valerioti. The team developed Project “Ambul Anziani,” an application to manage medical records of elder patients in real time for the 118 Emergency Services or other first-aid providers.
