Security and privacy: the role of the MISP Platform in Trust aWare
"Sharing of information plays a fundamental role in the reign of cybersecurity, due to the dynamic and sophisticated nature of cyberthreats. It concerns the exchange of intelligence, intuitions, and knowledge on cyberthreats, vulnerabilities and defensive measures amongst organisations, governmental agencies, security researchers, and relevant stakeholders.
[…] Aggregating data from different sources and collaborating with colleagues, organisations can reach a greater understanding of the panorama of threat, identifying emerging tendencies and acquiring intuition that can be used to strengthen security. This collective knowledge helps improve intelligence programmes on solid threats and simplifies a more accurate assessment of risk.”
A new contribution by the European Trust aWare Project network, published on its blog, analyses the role of the Malware Information Sharing Platform (MISP) for the protection of data and security. The article was prepared by Partner ABI Lab.
The Malware Information Sharing Platform (MISP) is an open-source platform for sharing information on cyberthreats. It allows IT security operators and analysts to share, exchange, and collaborate on data concerning malware, cyberattacks, vulnerabilities and other security information.
“MISP users benefit from collective knowledge of malware and threats. The objective is to improve the measures that can be taken against cyberattacks and implement preventive measures.”
"As part of Project Trust aWare, the MISP plays a central role as it supports the project’s Threat Intelligence Privacy Programme, the collection and sharing of information. Moreover, Trust aWare employs MISP to encourage open dialogue, the exchange of knowledge, and collaboration amongst interested parties, including Certs such as CERTFin.
