Shared School

The week that is about to end witnessed the return of 400 citizens into the digital classrooms of the School of Internet for Everyone. Some of the over 20 courses that were held were reserved for associations and local administrations, as was the case in Santo Stefano Aspromonte, Cerignola and Maglie. Thanks to the enthusiasm of citizens with an institutional role, the School of Internet for Everyone is transforming into a community choice and in some cases a true citizen project.

Adriana Sabato, who is currently the  prefectural commission of Cerignola, in the Province of Foggia, after having participated in one of the courses, recommended them to all citizens: "I found the course lively and interesting, and very useful to learn more about the Internet. The large participation reveals how the courses were well-thought out. The use of computer science has become indispensable; however, we are now aware of the risks and problems that this may cause, especially to all those who are not digital natives. Therefore, I would recommend this course to everyone, even on account of the teachers who are great.”

The City of Aversa, in the Province of Caserta, has integrated the School of Internet for Everyone into a civic education project, involving schools to promote intergenerational learning, even within families. The council will be holding three courses (two of which are already underway) for over-65s. The next course will begin next week.

“In less than twenty-four hours, we filled out all the places in the first course and are already receiving requests for the next. Clearly, there was a great need for this and I’m happy that I have opened up my drawer of dreams and given this opportunity to my city,” explains Adele D'Angelo from the Comunità Solidale Aversa [see article], who played an extraordinary networking role, also involving Mayor Alfonso Golia.

Public and private organisations that wish to enrol their employees in courses should write to ord@mondodigitale.org or contact their regional coordinators.

The project is promoted by TIM in collaboration with the Fondazione Mondo Digitale as part of programme Operation Digital Risorgimento.
