Scouting the Future

After a year of intense work with schools, university students, young start-uppers, universities and companies in Lazio, Project Scouting the Future promoted with Lazio Innova and the Regione Lazio nears its end.

Let’s quickly review the challenges it launched between January and October 2020:

  • ROBOTICS
The social robotics challenge was proposed by the Department of Engineering and Computer Science at Sapienza University of Rome. The call attracted high school students in Rome and Lazio who participated in 10 teams that participated in the first creative marathon on January 24 [see news: Social Robotics Challenges].
  • 5G
The challenge on 5G and mobility, supported by the Fondazione Lars Magnus Ericsson and the “Roma Tre” University, called on high school and university students in Lazio to develop new solutions related to super connected and autonomous driving. The teams met for a first marathon on February 7 [see news: Smart Mobility].
  • LIFE SCIENCES
The Il Reality Contest on Life Sciences and technology during the Covid-19 emergency was launched in May by Comau Robotics to mixed teams of university students and start-uppers. The contest was held on-line on October 6 and was won by the “Dilo” health robotics project [see news A Hospital Robot].

The final stage, for the schools participating in the robotics contests at RomeCup, will include three focus sessions on Arduino, Internet of Things, domotics and robotics. The lessons will be held by educator and maker Marco Brocchieri.

The next training session will be held on November 9/16/23 from 2:00 to 3:30 pm. The webinars include one hour of specific training and 30 minutes dedicated to reviewing the team projects and ideas from last winter’s creative challenges.

Participants include 31 students aged 16-18 at the following schools:

  • IIS Marconi - Civitavecchia (Rome)
  • ITIS Armellini - Rome
  • IT Arangio Ruiz - Rome
  • Liceo Russell - Rome
  • LS Peano - Rome
  • Liceo Kennedy - Rome
  • ITTA Pacinotti - Fondi (Latina)
