"New Generations in the Spotlight" at school, too … The Fondazione Mondo Digitale once again launches the role of the Rome Città Educativa Centre as a fundamental tool for the municipal policies addressing infancy and youth. Mirta Michilli’s presentation at the Convention on "15 Years of Bill 285/97 in Rome" stresses that “Rome can become a pivotal player in the educational innovation of Italy and Europe.” The key to this success is the “education for life” model.
The event on “New Generations in the Spotlight – Bill 285/97 in Rome” is promoted by the Coordination Team for the implementation of Bill 285/97 instituted at the Rome Department for the Promotion of Social and Health Services, in collaboration with the Fondazione Mondo Digitale, and is currently underway at the Rome Città Educativa (via del Quadraro 102) until 5 pm.
The event will feature a series of parallel workshops and a convention to analyze and discuss the three reports presented on the condition of minors, as well as an exhibition area with stands presenting 20 projects. The works were opened by Mirta Michilli, Director General of the Fondazione Mondo Digitale, the organization that manages the Città Educativa Centre in Rome since 2004. “Rome can become a pivotal player for educational innovation in Italy and Europe.” And the Città Educativa that hosts today’s event is a “centre for innovation that irradiates projects promoted by schools to Italian and European cities.”
The Fondazione Mondo Digitale, a non-profit structure that works towards the creation of an inclusive knowledge society was lead since its inception by Professor Emertius Tullio De Mauro. “We have been working on an ambitious programme for lifelong education, youth enterprise, social innovation, new professions with initiatives that involve prestigious partners for many years,” explains Director General Mirta Michilli. “And today we can promote a strategic European programme to invest in the new generations and efficiently respond to the challenges of Europe 2020.”
Our fundamental strength is the life education model that is based on the knowledge of traditional codified knowledge, practice of life skills and development of character. “The projects that are promoted by the Fondazione Mondo Digitale through the Città Educativa aim to provide youth, but also their teachers, with training opportunities for practicing life skills and developing their character,” explains Mirta Michilli. “Just think about the Grandparents on the Internet Programme – now also Parents on the Internet – or the Creativity Fair or our work on Educational Robotics.”
