They won the RomeCup 2017 and qualified for the World Robotics Championships in Nagoya on July 27-30. In Japan, they will compete in the Lightweight League of RoboCup Junior.
Team SPQR from IIS Galileo Galilei in Rome includes the same three members that participated in last year’s world championship arriving sixth:
- Giulia de Julis, 19, electronics and 3D. She designed the electronic circuitry and 3D printed parts.
- Flavio Galasso, 19, software, coordinates coding and tests.
- Enrico Di Claudio, 18, hardware and mechanics. He developed the electronic circuitry and mechanical construction of the robot.
All three of them just successfully completed their state exam and earned a diploma with 100, 100 and 98, respectively.
"The team has been working together for two years and have constantly showed extraordinary commitment and skills, overwhelming both internal and external competition,” says Professor Paolo Torda. “Unfortunately, they have all turned eighteen, so this will e their last time at the RoboCup Junior. It will be hard to substitute them!"
Professors Massimiliano Manfrè, Giampaolo Pucci, Paolo Torda, Beniamina Rauch and Enzo Cozzolino mentored them.
