School Accelerator

In the framework of the StartUp School Academy Programme developed by Lazio Innova and the RomeCup, the event dedicated to robotics and life sciences that the Fondazione Mondo Digitale has been promoting since 2007, there also is Project School Accelerator.

During the first phase, the project will hold courses, via webinars, for high school students in the Regione Lazio (open to more schools than the subsequent phase) on the key issues to face the aftermath of the Covid-19 pandemic.

High schools in Lazio will compete to develop innovative ideas in the following fields:

  • Robotics
  • Lifestyle
  • Life Sciences
  • 5G
  • Social Fragility

The best ideas will be presented at Romecup 2021 (April 27-30, 2021).

Activities will take place in four phases from January to May:

  • Courses in schools (distance learning)
  • Conception and validation of ideas
  • Selection of (10) best ideas and production
  • Presentation at RomeCup 2021 (April)

Today – Monday, January 25 – from 3:00 to 4:30 pm, there will be the first vertical lesson on Robotics by Marco Brocchieri, an expert coach at the Fondazione Mondo Digitale. The young innovators will be welcomed by Monia Montana from Lazio Innova and Fiammetta Castagnini from the Fondazione Mondo Digitale.

The objective of the webinar is to define fields of application for the Arduino chipset, understand its hardware and learn to use the IDE to develop sketches. The webinar will cover the main sensors and actuators available on the market and then turn to writing the code necessary to control a LED.

Webinar: Introduction to Arduino

Duration: 1 hour and 30 minutes

Lesson Programme:

  • Introduction to robotics and Project School Accelerator
  • What is a robotics “ecosystem”?
  • Arduino IDE: What is it? What is its purpose?
  • Arduino: Correct input and output
  • Case studies to better understand the operation of Arduino
  • Q&A: short session dedicated to student questions

Upcoming Robotics Lessons
