Parents on the Internet, promoted as part of the Città Educativa Project managed by the Fondazione Mondo Digitale, is organized in four phases: Reflection, Didactic Project, a Workshop with experts and a Meeting-event.

Participating schools organized debates in class between students and teachers on the safe use of new technologies and the web. During the first phase, didactic projects were defined for later development with families during the summer break.

Students and parents began to work on this by researching on safe Internet use practices and the responsible use of new technologies and will deliver their ideas to the Fondazione Mondo Digitale by September 30, 2013. The documents may have different characteristics and range from ten-point lists for on-line safety to responsible navigation maps and a fundamental terms glossary, all transmitted through cartoons, quizzes and short videos.

Upcoming activities include informational workshops on issues including cyber-bullying, risk prevention and Internet safety. Thanks to the collaboration with Google and the Postal Police, students and parents will meet with experts and learn how to use the web, social networks, computers and other digital tools in a safe and responsible manner.

This will allow parents to get a better grip on the world of their children and learn to speak to them in the right “language.”
