RomeCup 2024 Creative Contests

Collaborative work between 17 schools and 11 universities

RomeCup 2024 returns with a wide series of creative robotics contests that allow secondary schools and universities to promote and strengthen collaborative work between young students and teams of academic researchers. Laboratory activities take place throughout the school year. The contests are open to university and high school students attending PCTO courses (soft skills and orientation). Students can participate either individually or in teams; mixed groups composed of high school and university students are particularly appreciated. Submitted projects must be accompanied by a presentation (slide or video) and must include the development of a working prototype and/or any software interface. The cost of producing the final product must be less than 500 euros. Further development of works already presented in a previous edition is also admitted. A panel of experts will evaluate the projects and select the finalists who will then participate in the final pitch contest at RomeCup 2024. The 3-minute elevator pitches should be accompanied by material describing the project’s main characteristics, feasibility, and market analysis. Projects and prototypes are evaluated according to the following criteria: impact, low cost, effectiveness, originality, and interdisciplinary nature.

23 teams from 17 secondary schools working with 11 Italian universities will compete in RomeCup 2024.

The contests will be held at the Rome University of Tor Vergata on March 21, from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm, in parallel sessions according to the following programme:

Room B1: DroneBOT category on an airfield set up in collaboration with the Italian Red Cross with  an obstacle course for the drones. At the end of the flight sessions, the teams will move to the conference room, where in the meantime the elevator pitches for the other contest categories (CoBOT, AgroBOT, MareBOT, TirBOT and 5GBOT) will have been held.
