The FMD, with the support of Google, promotes educational robotics programs for social inclusion of special needs students in some schools in Rome and the Campania Region.

Here is the “Robotics for Everyone” video:

“It stimulates reasoning and logical abilities and is very important for a child in 2012,” explains Daniela De Paoli, a teacher at the 102° Circolo Didattico Mar dei Carabi School.

“Thanks to activities such as Robotics, children with special needs can learn by just watching their classmates” says Rosa Margiotta, a colleague of Daniela’s.

Rosa is about to receive a degree in Sociology with a research thesis on cooperative learning, one of the main aspects of Robotics.

Cinzia Mattioli, a Wellbeing Psychologist and a Special Needs Teacher following two students with different issues, noticed that Robotics allows a major obstacle to be removed. “In general,” she points out, “it’s hard to work together and feel like part of the group, but these tools allow us to overcome this problem.”

The students socialize, exchange technical information and discover new interests, such as a passion for technology, allowing them to become not only part of the group, but even leaders.
