Robotics and AI for the Environment

Applications are open to participate in the Talent Tour organised by the Fondazione Mondo Digitale and the Invitalia National Development Agency. The "AI & Robotics for Climate Change" Challenge will be organised in four Italian cities in collaboration with major universities. Start-ups and young talents may offer a personal and original contribution to the environmental cause by participating in the challenge for new robotic solutions for the sustainable market of Industry 4.0. Palermo, Pisa, Turin and Rome are the four cities selected for the Fondazione Mondo Digitale and Invitalia Talent Tour. There will be four hackathons open to start-uppers, professionals, students and researchers, but a single challenge: exploiting the potential of artificial intelligence and robotics to fight climate change.

 

Registration is open to both individuals and team at romecup.org/hackathon for prototype projects with a business model. Selected participants will have 8 hours to develop innovative ideas that reduce the environmental impact of the economy and raise awareness on the responsible behavior of citizens-consumers, based on the principles of eco-sustainability and inclusion.

 

The first appointment, which will be held in Palermo on January 30, has been organised at the Consorzio Arca in collaboration with the University of Palermo. The second appointment will be on February 14 at the University of Pisa; the third on March 10 with a hackathon at t I3P, the Enterprise Incubator at the Turin. Polytechnic. Then, the winners will meet for the final challenge in Rome on April 21-24 at RomeCup 2020. The winning teams will receive a prize in cash and a follow-up course with Invitalia to develop their business idea.

Indeed, for many years, our programmes have not only aimed to promtoe the diffusion of digital skills, but also to train responsible new generations that are aware of their social role,” explains Alfonso Molina, Scientific Director of the Fondazione Mondo Digitale.
