Football robots from the Manetti Porciatti School aim to regain world title.

“After Italy's disappointments at the European Championships in Germany, there could be a team made up of robot footballers that could give us worldwide satisfaction.” The Maremma team "Go for Broke" from the  Manetti Porciatti Technological School in Grosseto, after having won the Italian championship in Verbania, is competing in Eindhoven with all the other teams in the world to repeat the success of ten years ago, when they won the World Cup in Brazil. With the guidance of Professors Daniele Dattino and Emanuele Formichella, the students built and programmed a very competitive and low-cost pair of robots.

“Compared to costs even ten times higher by the other teams,” explain professors Dattino and Formichella in a note published by the school, “we spent just 500 euros per robot to implement highly competitive technological expedients. Our team is excited and prepared to give all the other teams a hard time, even the most famous ones.”

The delegation is composed of students Riccardo Brogelli, Stefano Rocchi, Lucia Cortino and Alessandro Di Lorenzo accompanied by their tutor, Professor Formichella.

“The whole school and I'm sure the whole province of Grosseto will be with you,” School Director Claudio Simoni told them. “I am convinced of the quality of your work in which Italian commitment and ingenuity emerge compared to the excessive economic power of other teams. Be proud to represent us and to represent Italian schools and their excellence. So, good luck and whatever happens it will be an experience that you will cherish forever.”
