A course on holistic sustainability at the Giorgi Woolf School in Rome
As part of Programme Smart & Heart Rome, on Thursday, May 18, a new “Gym for Personal Sustainability” PCTO course will start. The course, which is organised in collaboration with the Rome Campus Bio-Medico University, will involve students in Years 3 and 4 at IIS Giorgi Woolf in Rome (Municipio V).
The thirty-hour course will embrace two school years and allow students to explore human and technological aspects relevant to holistic sustainability with a focus on the technological opportunities for recording and monitoring physiological indices related to psychophysical equilibrium. This will bring students to understand the indivisible unity between body and mind, developing new skills for professional sectors in rapid expansion and based on the alliance between technology and sustainability.
Module 1 – States of Psychophysical Activation: Types and Measurement

- Emotions and psychophysical activation: mind/body influence
- Overview of physiological measurements and relative measurement technology
The meeting will also address emotional states, psychophysiological activation, and the function of these activations in terms of psychophysical wellbeing in various life contexts. This will be followed by an explanation of the different types of technology that can be used to perform measurement on physiological indices and the importance of their monitoring for psychophysical wellbeing.
