The Repubblica daily dedicates a section to “Professors’ Stories” in the Thursday Science supplement. Yesterday, there was a contribution by Prof Maria Rosaria Del Sorbo, who teaches Maths and Physics at the Liceo Scientifico Leonardo Da Vinci in Poggiomarino (Naples), one of the school hubs for Programme Ambizione Italia for Schools, promoted with Microsoft.
“Eco-assistant will help students to make environmentally-correct choices,” explains the professor. “The first model, a prototype developed by a group of students [...], is a totem in the school atrium that looks like a large tree built from recycled plastic and full of coloured plastic bottle caps.
We know the project well as it was presented by Carolina and Francesco to Satya Nadella, CEO, Microsoft Corporation, at the Microsoft Innovation Summit held at the Bocconi University in Milan, as reported by journalist Salvo Intravaia. Unfortunately, however, he did not mention the reference project, Ambizione Italia for Schools, that helps schools develop artificial intelligence applications [see post (in Italian): Ecoassistant, un aiuto per fare le scelte giuste].
