Green and digital skills to boost young people
A concrete initiative to boost training opportunities and workplace inclusion in the Zen 2 district of Palermo with the presentation of the European project PRODIGY – PROmoting Digital and Green Skills for Youth. The event, aimed at informing and involving the local community, was held in a symbolic location: La Putia dei Sogni.
From confiscated property to a centre of opportunity located in the heart of Zen 2, La Putia dei Sogni, managed by Fondazione L'Albero della Vita ETS (leader of the Prodigy project), is not just a centre, but a real laboratory of creativity and training. As Serena Fleres, coordinator of the national programme “Varcare la Soglia” in Palermo (L'Albero della Vita), tells us, this space, created from the redevelopment of a property previously confiscated from criminals, represents a safe haven for young people. It hosts educational and artistic courses that aim to transform ideas into concrete projects and encourage personal expression.
The event, which took place on 5 November, highlighted the synergy between the L'Albero della Vita Foundation and the Fondazione Mondo Digitale ETS, a key partner in the project for the development of training courses validated by Esco and DigComp 2.2 certifications.
Prodigy not only provides free, targeted training to young people aged between 15 and 29 who are not in education, employment or training, but also creates a real bridge between the most vulnerable young people and opportunities in the sustainable and digital job market. As Francesca Lisi, career coach at Fondazione Mondo Digitale, explains, the programme involves strengthening social networks and organising guidance interviews to facilitate entry into the professional world.
Enrolment for the courses is still open for young people in Palermo, Reggio Calabria, Catanzaro, Naples and Cosenza.
