The Pride of a Teachers

"They are the same students, but I see them differently. They are young women projected towards the working world.” Prof. Virginia Vitiello, PCTO Coordinator (former school-work programme) at IIS Via Copernico in Pomezia (Rome) was at her first experience, together with her students, with the Coding Girls educational marathon. In this short interview with Ilaria Bonanni, the professor describes all her pride for the teamwork exhibited by her students and the tenacity with which they faced this new experience.

The reference model for Coding Girls is Life Education, which integrates codified knowledge, competences, character and fundamental values through a variety of methodologies, including Train-the-trainers, Peer-to-peer, Team-building and Learning-by-doing. Besides coding to develop computational thought, the educational marathon also includes team building, animation technique and digital storytelling activities.

The Coding Girls Programme, promoted by the Fondazione Mondo Digitale and the United States Embassy in Italy in collaboration with Microsoft Italy, aims to promote gender equality in science and technology.
