Opera for Oculus

"Stonertronic Attitude" by Lino Strangis is a virtual reality opera with a live performance and video installation that will be staged starting tomorrow, Dec. 23, at the TIP Teatro Tunnel (Via Aspromonte, Lamezia Terme). The inauguration will be held at 6 pm.

The event, organised Veronica D’Auria, is Lino Strangis’ new production. Since 2005, after having been involved in various musical projects, the artist begun exhibiting his works (video-art, video installations, sound installations, multimedia environments, and experimental music) in museums (including Macro, Maxxi, etc.), private galleries and non-conventional spaces in Italy and abroad.

The opera must be viewed with an Oculus Rift visor. Lino Strangis, in fact, is one of the first artists to experiment the potential of VR visors in the context of contemporary art. He produced a similar work at the Phyrtual Innovation Gym for the Media Art Festival and participated in the 2016 edition of Ars Electronica in Linz (Austria).

The experimental performance also features Mariano Ferraro on guitar and illustrator Luisa Strangis, both of whom were chosen by the artists as performers, live sculptures, and environmental agents of sounds and signs.
