Technologies for all ages

A festive Saturday for the Fondazione Mondo Digitale: over 130 people joyfully walked through the corridors of the Città Educativa, actively participating in the “Open Workshops” organised as part of Rome Future Week. There were families, grandparents, teachers and curious onlookers who had come across the posters displayed in the Tuscolano neighbourhood or the messages posted on our channels. Once again, we opened our headquarters at Via del Quadraro 102 to our community, but above all to the residents of the area, who were delighted to rediscover the engaging activities offered by our trainers. Many parents were able to share their first experience of educational robotics with their children together with Emanuele Coletta, and many young people benefited from training on how to create an effective and professional CV, guided by Luca Gentile. Teachers were pleasantly surprised as they explored the potential of immersive reality for teaching together with Lara Forgione. The Fablab community, with Daniele Vigo, Davide Belli and many other makers, also generously opened up to the desire to experiment of curious children and young people.

It was a celebration that truly included everyone, from young athletes grappling with Virtual Taekwondo fights to people who turned to the digital facilitation desk for immediate and practical help with their requests. ‘The Fondazione Mondo Digitale is a great reference point for us teachers, always helping us discover new stimuli,’ commented Agata Seminara of IC Gigi Proietti after an immersive session in the Divine Comedy. ‘I had a problem with my identity card and the facilitators helped me promptly. I discovered a unique place where I feel welcome,’ commented Renato Rocchi. During the morning, Council President Massimo Pellutri brought greetings from the administration of Municipio VII, enthusiastic about people's participation and their desire to discover the potential of digital technology.

‘Innovation must be close to people, otherwise there is a risk of continuing to have a two-speed world. Fondazione Mondo Digitale is one of the organisations that raises awareness of what technology can really do for human beings, with activities in schools and around the city to reach even the youngest members of society,’ said Michele Franzese, Founder of Rome Future Week. The event was part of the Network of Digital Facilitation Centres, a project promoted by Roma Capitale with the support of third sector organisations, in response to the Lazio Region's call for proposals under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR).
