The Fondazione Mondo Digitale and the Province of Viterbo organized the “Grandparents on the Internet in Tuscia” digital literacy programme for over-sixties as part of 2012, the European Year for Active Ageing and Solidarity Amongst Generations to promote the objectives of the Italian Digital Agenda and further digital competences and social inclusion.

On December 11 (2 pm) an open lesson will be held at the Istituto "L. Da Vinci" in Viterbo. Grandparents, helped by their tutors, will connect via videoconference with Viterbo Province Social Policy and Youth Paolo Bianchini to present project activities and show what they learnt during the course.

The course is based on the intergenerational learning model developed by the Fondazione Mondo Digitale that has been successfully tested with Project “Grandparents on the Internet” in 17 Italian regions and 8 European countries. School students, coordinated by a teacher, teach the elders to use computers, new technologies and on line e-gov services.

“Grandparents on the Internet in Tuscia” is held by 6 schools in Viterbo, Civita Castellana, Vetralla and Nepi, involving over 500 over-sixty citizens.
