The 2015-16 school year is about to begin for over 8 million students: 7,861,925 are enrolled in public schools and over 960,000 in accredited institutes.
The Italian public school system welcomes over a million young children to infant school; 2,583,514 to primary school; 1,649,408 to first-degree secondary school and 2.628.648 to second-degree secondary school. Moreover, there are over 216,000 students with disabilities.
In total, there will be 369,902 classes in 8,384 schools. The Regions with the greatest number of students are Lombardy (1,185,662), Campania (920,964), Sicily (763,529) and Lazio (741,633).
The Fondazione Mondo Digitale is already in full swing with its school-related activities. Last week, it kicked off the new year with the webinar for teachers involved in Project Meet No Neet.
School dropouts and other issues will be addressed by labs held at the Officina – New Jobs Workshop, which also opened up again last Monday.
This week, there hardly was a stop for the knowledge volunteers. They were already back to work on September 1 in the post offices holding the pilot courses for Project Grandparents on the Internet at the Post Office.
The new courses and workshops held at the Phyrtual Innovation Gym will be presented on Wednesday, September 23, including many new options for schools, such as the Educational Fab Lab.
